Paul Smith - The Father of ASCII art
Paul Smith, born in 1921, probably is one of the first to use ASCII characters to draw and paint artworks. Despite of his spastic cerebral palsy, he developed a very unique skill, using such “@ # $ % ^ & * ( ) _ .” characters to create masterpieces, shown below. Through the years, he even developed techniques to create shadings, colors, and textures that made his work resemble pencil or charcoal drawings.
